30 Day Tarot Challenge - Week Four - June 22-30, 2020 - Rohrig Tarot

Can’t believe we are already into the last week of the 30 Day Tarot Challenge! Our Facebook Tarot group of the same name is so much fun. We are Tarot readers of all levels and we learn so much through our sharing of our card meanings and how they apply to our lives.

Continuing into this last week, my daily Challenge cards and interpretations will be included here on my blog and the deck used will be the Rohrig Tarot. Although I learned Tarot on the RWS system, I love this Thoth-based deck because it gives me such deep readings. Out of print for a long time now, it still remains a personal treasure.
 June 22-30, 2020

Day 22 - June 22, 2020
Question - Show me a reflection of what today will bring.
Today’s Challenge prompt -
What do I need to know for my highest good?

10 of Wands reversed - Rohrig Tarot

My question was to be shown a reflection of what today will bring. This image shows a kiln, with me the person inside it. I read reversed cards as primarily showing something going on in a person’s inner world and/or as being possible things to come. Today, both fit.

This past weekend, our family decided that Camp Grandma - our annual, week-long, grandkids-sleep-over at my house - will be safe to go on as planned in mid July. We have all been staying isolated and have recently begun to carefully interact with each other, so we think camp will be safe. Now that this has been decided, I need to get moving with planning all the activities, meals and supplies. Camp opens in three weeks!

You get to be a Camp Grandma ‘counselor’ when you are 11 and this coming Wednesday we will have three counselors spending the night for a planning meeting. I need to be ready for that, too.

So yes, I am definitely feeling the pressure mount to have everything in place. And although the person in this image seems small in comparison, I know I am up to the job.

Today’s Challenge prompt to be shown what is best for my highest good applies here, too. Time with family feeds my soul. And while Camp Grandma is tiring and I need a day to rest afterwards, I love every moment of it and am grateful to have it in my life. This prompt reminds me that, with 3 young counselors this year, it could be time for the Director to do more delegating. 😊

Day 23 - June 23, 2020
Challenge Prompt - What is my soul’s highest calling?

The Hierophant - Rohrig Trot

Today I read the prompt before drawing my card. As I was shuffling, it came to me that The Hierophant would be the right card for me to draw because I am a minister and my spiritual life is so important to me. Sure enough, that is the card I drew.

He is an affirmation of my belief that I was called to my work and he certainly fits my life and ideals - clergy, counselor, teacher, spirituality, kindness.

This particular image is my favorite for The Hierophant card. He is obviously connected to Spirit, has kind, knowing eyes and seems warm and approachable. He feels like someone you could trust.

Day 24 - June 24, 2020
Challenge Prompt - What I am most grateful for.

3 of Cups - Rohrig Tarot

How appropriate. I will soon be heading over to pick up 3 grandchildren for our Camp Grandma counselors meeting and sleepover. We will be brainstorming for our week-long camp, divvying up the counseling responsibilities, planning meals, and having fun doing it together.

I am so very grateful that I can be an active part of our local grandchildren’s lives. It is a gift that keeps on giving. πŸ’›

Day 26 - June 26, 2020
Challenge Prompt - What might the cards be saying to each other?

7 of Wands + Prince (Knight) of Disks (Pentacles) - Rohrig Tarot

(In the Rohrig Tarot deck, Knights are named Princes.)

I saw two possibilities with this challenge prompt;
a memory and a conversation.

A Memory - What first came to me when I saw these cards was that I was seeing a memory of the Prince (Knight). He is remembering a past youthful effort, when he had tried jumping across a crevasse. He got seriously hurt in his fall and, ever since, he has been more careful about how he proceeds with everything. It was an important life lesson.

A Conversation - It could be that the 7 of Wands is a young, impetuous person chiding the slow-and-steady-wins-the-race Prince (Knight) for his plodding ways. This looks like the fable of the tortoise and the hare, Tarot version.

Day 27 - June 27, 2020
Challenge Prompt - What is the next step in my journey?

5 of Disks (Pentacles) - Rohrig Tarot

I sure didn’t expect this card as an answer and was crestfallen when I saw it. But as I thought about it, I began to understand there is something I haven’t been allowing myself to address. Tarot is an amazing mirror.

The Thoth meaning of ‘Worry’ and the RWS meaning of ‘being penniless and out in the cold’ come together here, combined with my own take on the card as being reminded to lean more on Spirit. I will be retiring at the end of this year and had hoped to use this last year of work to create a bit of a financial safety net for next year. But in this year of Covid, that safety net is not happening. While we will not be penniless, there will not be what I had hoped to create and this is definitely causing me some worry.

When I look at this image, I think of Atlas holding up the world. This strong fella is holding up 5 worlds! Surely I can handle my one. The Universe has nudged me that now is the right time for retirement. Hubby is 84, with health issues, and as much quality time together as we can have will be a gift. So I have to trust that the weight and the worry are going to be handled. And to lean more on Spirit to provide.

Day 28 - June 28, 2020
Challenge Prompt - What is my lesson from taking this challenge?

Knight (King) of Wands - Rohrig Tarot

(In the Rohrig Tarot deck, Kings are named Knights.)

This Knight (King) is a planner and a doer. He has the vision and determination to make things happen. His eyes look right into me, making me feel my lesson in this challenge is to recognize that he is an important part of who I am.

Day 29 - June 29, 2020
Challenge Prompt - Where can I be more brave in my life?

The High Priestess reversed - Rohrig Tarot

My normal way to read reversed cards is that the upright energies are happening in a person’s inner world. This card is an important reminder to me that thoughts can become things.

With so many scary situations swirling around - national politics, the virus, finances, Hubby’s health - I have been noticing a lot of fear-based thoughts in my life these days. Some of the cards in this Challenge have reflected my consciously trying to pull myself out of that negativity.

The High Priestess reversed is telling me to trust and rely more on my inner knowing, to create in my mind the world I would like to live within, and to believe it will happen. I know this. I just need to remember the importance of positive thinking and being grateful for all I have, not fearful of losing it. The High Priestess knows, understands and is  the energetic matrix of The Universe. She knows we create our own reality and is reminding me of my own innate creative power.

Do I have the courage to live my hopes and not my fears? Yes. I know I do.

Thanks for the reminder, High Priestess.

Day 30 - June 30, 2020
What is a good message for this last day of our Challenge?

4 of Swords - Rohrig Tarot

Hard to believe this is the last day of our Challenge.

I am always disappointed when our Tarot Challenges end and so I asked for a good message for this last day. I must have been expecting a deeply philosophical card response because I was surprised when the 4 of Swords showed up. It wasn’t what I expected, for sure, but it is certainly appropriate and it made me chuckle at myself when I realized just how appropriate it is. I love how Tarot talks.

Although the Thoth system, on which this deck is based, names this card ‘Truce,’ I feel today it more aligns with the RWS meanings of withdrawal and reflection.

Through the years, I have seen that when I go through a period of growth and learning, it is often followed by a time of quiet. It’s as if all I have recently learned needs time to percolate through and find its place within me. This tends to bring even more clarification, as I begin to understand the deeper implications I might not have initially recognized.

I think that is what this card signifies today. As our challenge closes, it is now time for me to let all the thoughts and insights gleaned throughout the challenge become a living part of who I am. And so that begins.

30 Day Tarot Challenge - Week 2 - Sept 6-12, 2020 - The Spacious Tarot

Today begins week 2 of our 30 Day Tarot Challenge for September 2020. Throughout this challenge, I will be using the delightful second edition of  The Spacious Tarot. I love its concept of putting the reader into the images by drawing the traditional Rider-Waite concepts in unexpected ways. This has a tendency to bring out new insights, which is another thing I love about this deck.

This may not apply to something that happens today - I’ll see as the day progresses. I think these cards showed up because of a situation very much on my mind.

30 Day Tarot Challenge - Week 1 - Sept 1-5, 2020 - The Spacious Tarot

Today - Sept 1 - starts a new Tarot Challenge. Each day of the month, I will be drawing a Tarot card and writing about how it relates to my life. 30 Day Tarot Challenge - Week 3 - Sept 13-19, 2020 - The Spacious Tarot

These Tarot Challenges progress so quickly. Today - Sept. 13 - begins our third week. My norm, as in previous weeks and Challenges, is that my daily Challenge cards and interpretations will be included here on my blog. The deck I am using throughout this Challenge is the second edition of The Spacious Tarot. This is a new deck for me. It arrived 2 days before this Challenge began and I am enjoying getting to know it as I go. The artwork in this RWS-tradition deck has been bringing out some absolutely amazing insights. Kudos to its creators, Carrie Mallon and Annie Ruygt.
WEEK THREE  September 13-19, 2020 ___________________________________________________
Day 13 - September 13, 2020 Question -A message for today

The Sun - The Spacious Tarot
A turning toward the inner and outer suns. This feels like a two-fold message; a nudge to get back to prioritizing my inner world and a reminder that I want to be sure to get outside for a walk in the sun…

30 Day Tarot Challenge - Week 4 - Sept 20-26, 2020 - The Spacious Tarot

As we move into the last 10 days of the 30 Day Tarot Challenge, I can’t believe it has passed so quickly. As in the previous weeks, my daily Challenge cards and interpretations will be included here on my blog and the deck used will be The Spacious Tarot. This is a new deck for me and I am getting to know it as I move through this Challenge. The depth of insights this sparse artwork style is bringing has been a constant joy and amazement. I’m having a lot of fun with it.  ___________________________________________________

Day 20 - September 20, 2020 Question - Something I should be aware of today _____

2 of Swords reversed - The Spacious Tarot
Two swords at crossed blades stand frozen in the snow, suggesting a conflicted position. The reversed image shows the conflict is happening in my inner world. A rising sun in the distance shows a thaw is taking place. This does reflect me.

Weight Loss Tarot Journal - 10 Pounds Lost! - Ace of Swords - The Druidcraft Tarot

September 3, 2020
Weight Loss Tarot Journal
~ One month on this plan and 10 pounds down! ~
Ace of Swords
Deck - The Druidcraft Tarot
I feel like this card. Excaliber was given to me in the form of a new eating plan to cut out flour and sugar. And I have run with it. Three months ago, I discovered Bright Line Eating, a sensible, logical and practical eating plan that had the same goals I did; to cut out sugar and flour. I liked that they had a road map and hand-holding support to get me started and moving along safely.
One month ago, I started on the plan. It has turned out to be much easier to give up my two most powerful trigger foods than I expected. That was a nice surprise. I have had to tweak food volumes down a bit for me, but it has been a huge relief to find I have had no sugar cravings and no slips. It has been easy to stay on the plan, even in the midst of a newly-changed and super busy schedule.
Two days before finishing my first month, I hi…

On the Passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg - Tender Embrace - Oracle of the 7 Energies

September 19, 2020
Processing the loss of beloved Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg
deck used -Oracle of the 7 Energies
I am feeling double gut-punched at last night’s loss of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and what is coming politically as a result. The vultures are circling.
I chose this deck today because it taps into healing energies, something much needed here in the USA. Tender Embrace references love and compassion for others, making sure not to forget that for ourselves as well. Justice Ginsburg‘s arena was the legal system and within it she chose a personal path of empathy, care and compassion for her fellow man. Because of her commitment to leveling the playing field for all of us, she left a powerful wake of reverberating effects in our nation. She made a huge, positive difference in our lives.
I see in this card the best way to honor her will be to hug ourselves and each other, recognize our connections, and then pick up her gauntle…

Weight Loss Tarot Journal - Psychic Tarot for the Heart - 5 of Swords - The Fool

November 8, 2019
Give me a message for today
Card Drawn  -  5 of Swords reversed Foundation Card  -  The Fool

Deck  -  Psychic Tarot for the Heart
When I got on the scale this morning, my weight had gone up a pound and I had lost most of the small progress (1.3 lbs) made so far. Disappointing!  There is a valid reason we are often cautioned not to get on the scale daily - the disappointment can knock us off our plan. I know this and try to guard against that emotional roller coaster. But for me, the daily morning scale ritual also helps me to know how the foods I ate yesterday affect my body today. Analyzing those fluctuations helps me gather information and - being a Gemini - that is an important part of the weight loss learning curve for me. Even knowing all that, though, it is still disappointing to see the weight go up and not down.

The messages in the cards todayaddress all of this.

Weight Loss Tarot Journal - A Weight Loss Plateau Brings a Surprising Revelation - The Hanged Man - 4 of Swords - Queen of Pentacles - Light Seer’s Tarot

August 10, 2020
Weight Loss Tarot Journal
What has caused my weight loss stall?
The Hanged Man
Foundation Cards - 4 of Swords + Queen of Pentacles
Deck used - Light Seer’s Tarot
Well, doesn’t Tarot have a sense of humor today. I chuckled when I saw The Hanged Man. How appropriate. My 5 pound weight loss last week was wonderful and unexpected but, for the last 3 days, the weight has just been sitting there. I know plateaus happen on a weight loss journey but I didn’t expect one so soon. Am I doing something wrong? I tried thinking what I might have done to cause this but, other than a couple ideas that don’t seem pertinent, I haven’t come up with anything. So I asked the cards to plumb my subconscious for an answer. The Hanged Man shows a stalling, yes, but it also represents coming to a new perspective. What might that perspective be?
The Foundation Cards - 4 of Swords + Queen of Pentacles - both indicate this is a natural process and a time for heali…

The Earth Element in Tarot - Pentacles - Pages - Major Arcana - with Tarot Grand Luxe

It is now autumn in the northern hemisphere and I have been thinking about the seasons and the elements. To me, autumn equates with the earth element and in the Tarot, the earth element is usually represented by the Pentacles (sometimes called coins). The Pages of each Tarot suit and five of the Major Arcana cards  also reflect the earth element energies. I have chosen to use the Tarot Grand Luxe deck by Ciro Marchetti for this post  because its rich and vibrant colors match the glorious tones of autumn.

30 Day Tarot Challenge - Week 4.5 - September 27-30, 2020 - The Spacious Tarot

The last few days of the 30 Day Tarot Challenge! Where does the time go? I thoroughly enjoy our Facebook Tarot group of the same name and our two Tarot challenges each year. We are Tarot readers of all levels and we learn so much through sharing our daily card meanings and how they apply to our lives. It’s a great learning process for all of us.
My daily Challenge cards and interpretations will be included here on my blog and the deck used will continue to be The Spacious Tarot.  I received this deck a couple days before this Challenge began and have been learning it as I go. It is an amazingly accurate deck, with a soft, honest voice, and it has brought out some incredible insights. My thanks to its creators, Carrie Mallon and Annie Ruygt. It is a work of art and depth and I can highly recommend it.
